Update on Scott Base Wind Power
Back in October I wrote a post about wind power being looked at an option for powering Scott Base. Today I found a news article that talks about this very likely becoming a reality at Scott Base. There is currently no official announcement that wind power will be set up at Scott Base, however, it is expected that it will be announced officially this month. The use of wind turbines at Scott Base would save a lot of fuel ("380,000 litres of fuel a year" to be exact) and as a renewable energy source is much more environmentally friendly. It is great to see bases trying to become more green. Now if we could just get the more industrialized areas of the world to better follow suit.
